The recurring motif of the frame is connected to the limit as a border or barrier, as I have been limited in movement across geographic boundaries for bureaucratic reasons. And therefore, the containment of a form desperately trying to push beyond its limits is a universal symbol for the immigrant experience. The visual play that is created within the frame is a form of protest which tries to suggest a form of escape. The material used is plaster, chosen for the transitory nature that is represents.
